On 7 May 2025, The Walt Disney Company and Miral announced plans to create a new Disney theme park resort on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The announcement introduced Disney’s seventh theme park destination to an international audience through a global media event and a bespoke nighttime spectacular.
Working with HQ Worldwide Shows, KVANT Events Middle East delivered the high-impact laser effects for the launch. Epic 270 W and Atom 42 W laser systems were positioned across multiple locations, including moving barges, to integrate the lasers into the wider waterfront production.
The complete show also featured 9,000 drones delivered by Lumasky Drone Show and pyrotechnics by Flash Art.
Lasers on water. A star in the sky. One global reveal.
Much of the work took place during the planning and design phase. Each laser effect was refined in collaboration with Disney’s creative team to support the visual language and timing of the announcement without overpowering the wider story.
Epic 270 W and Atom 42 W systems were distributed across strategic positions around the waterfront. Some were installed on moving barges shared with lighting and pyrotechnic equipment, requiring precise mounting and close technical coordination between the different production departments.
One of the defining laser elements was the mapping created across the fountains. The aligned beams formed a symbolic star above the water, connecting the laser technology directly with the visual identity and narrative of the show.
The laser effects were programmed as part of a much larger composition that included fountains, water screens, lighting, fireworks and 9,000 drones. Every cue had to enter at the right moment and remain visually balanced within a production unfolding simultaneously across the water and the sky.
The result gave the official Disney Abu Dhabi announcement its own laser signature while allowing every other production layer to retain its role in the reveal.
